Panaqolus maccus, commonly called the clown panaque, clown plecostomus, clown pleco, or ringlet pleco, is a dwarf loricariid. By numbering systems such as the L-number system, this fish may also be known as L104, L162, or LDA22. It originally hails from Venezuela and Columbia, both being South America regions. It was adopted to be grown in aquariums from wild flowing waters of the magnificent Amazon River. The average Clown Pleco size is roughly 3 and a half inches long. Their max size is somewhere in the 4 inch range but that's very uncommon with a life span of 10-12 years if properly taken care of.

The recommended tank size for the Clown Plecos is 20 gallons at minimum. These are small fish and don't do a ton of swimming around, so you won't need to get a massive tank in order to make them comfortable. If you plan on keeping multiple Clown Plecos in the same aquarium you'll need to increase this. The clown pleco is also very compatible with lots of fish.

In addition to algae, they can be supplied with several vegetables like smashed potatoes, zucchini, shelled peas, lettuce, and cucumber. You can try feeding your Clown Pleco with meat food like bloodworms, shrimp pellets, and daphnia once in a while.
