Most tropical fish keepers have kept Tiger Barbs at some point in time. They are not always the ideal community fish as they can pester and fin nip. However, they can be an ideal tank mate for some of the more boisterous fish such as some American Cichlids.

Diet - These fish eat pretty much anything they are given. Offer a mixture of live, frozen and dried foods. Prawns and live earthworms are particularly relished.
Compatibility - Tankmates should be chosen carefully, given its dynamic, predatory nature. Don’t keep it with anything very delicate or slow moving. Possible tankmates include Cichla sp. and other robust cichlids, larger characins, cyprinids and catfish. It’s a shoaling fish by nature and ideally should be kept in a group.
